Living Lord, today, our nation celebrates American Business Women’s Day. As we celebrate the achievements of so many women, may we all recognize and promote the inclusion of all voices at the table. May the contributions of women in business inspire others to follow their own path, always mindful that true success is about the positive difference we make in the lives of others. In God’s name we pray. Amen.

Gracious God, your son Jesus called Matthew to leave his work as a tax collector behind and follow him. You call us to follow you through the work we do. Open our minds to your wisdom and our hearts to your call. Help us to see our work as a way of following you. May the work we do bring us closer to you and bring healing and peace to your people. We offer our prayer through your Son, Jesus. Amen.

God of transformation, it is easy to look around at our world without hope. Wildfires destroy your creation as injustice destroys lives. Yet, we believe you call us to contribute to the transformation of the world. Fill our hearts with your Holy Spirit that we might have the courage to respond faithfully to your call, trusting always in the bright future you promise. We pray this in your name. Amen.

Creator God, you are the source of all that exists. You are the author of the sunrise and the sunset, the pounding of the waves, and the majesty of the mountains. Fill us with awe and wonder for the beauty of your creation. Stir within us the courage to care for your creation so that generations to come may still witness the beauty of your creation and the love of the creator. Amen.

God of new life, the celebration of a New Year is not just the movement of the calendar. It is an opportunity to change, to transform our lives in light of your love and truth. Inspire us to stand in solidarity with our Jewish sisters and brothers as they celebrate the beginning of a new year. May we together, moved by the stirring of your Holy Spirit within us, commit to transformation in our hearts, in our lives, in our families, in our communities, and in our world. In joy and with hope, we pray. Amen.

Lord of justice and liberty, as we recall the signing of the Constitution by the delegates on September 17, 1787, help us also to be mindful of the noble goals for which it was established. Fill us with your Spirit that we might recognize what unites us as human beings. Give us the courage to provide justice for all. Stir within our hearts compassion that seeks the welfare of others, particularly people who are poor, sick, and vulnerable. And enliven our minds to enshrine in both practice and law respect for the freedom and dignity of all people. Amen.

Gracious God, we live in a world that measures success in many ways. For some, success is measured by the size of a bank account or the number of possessions surrounding them in their home. Still others measure success by the difference they have made in the lives of others. Fill our hearts with your love and compassion and our minds with your wisdom. Inspire us that we might resolve to be of value through positively influencing the lives of others. Amen.
