God of forgiveness,

Teach us the grace that makes forgiveness possible. When stress, misunderstanding, or hurt arise, help us clear the chambers of our hearts so that your mercy may enter. Form in us spirits of humility, patience, and compassion toward colleagues, patients, and families. May the grace we receive become the grace we extend, reflecting Christ’s healing love in all we do. Each day we relate with people who come to us carrying their fears and concerns, people who are feeling vulnerable and anxious. You have called us to live one of the greatest vocations, to provide healing and light to those who are experiencing life’s shadows. Crucial to healing is our dedication to patient safety, a dedication we have been celebrating this week. Stir within our hearts the courage and the will to renew our commitment this day and every day to patient safety and healing, to live this noble vocation and cultivate in our hearts and lives an ever-deepening dedication to safe, high-quality care for those we serve. We pray this in the name of God who is the source of all healing and love. Amen.

We know that each day presents us with opportunities to extend compassion to others and challenges that can impinge on our ability to take advantage of the opportunities each day provides. Grant us the strength to weather the storms life presents us each day that we might be free to be a source of light for those whom we serve. Bless in a special way all those who serve in our labs, affirming their commitment to patient safety through their daily efforts. Fill our hearts and the hearts of all with the courage needed to overcome life’s challenges that, despite those challenges, we might reflect your loving concern for our patients, colleagues, and communities we serve.
