Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day

Prayer

God of limitless love,
Remind us each day that true love knows no boundaries. In our field of healthcare, help us see every person as worthy of compassion, dignity, and hope. Break down whatever divides us so that our service reflects your boundless grace. May our actions reveal a love that heals, unites, and uplifts all we encounter. We pray this to the God who loved us first. Amen.

Prayer

Good Creator,

As a ministry and as people of conscience, help us remember that the greatest of treasures are not of our invention nor can they be stored in our bank accounts. Rather our highest wealth comes from the life-giving resources you have graciously provided for everyone’s flourishing. Awaken us more to the concrete opportunities we each have been given, to preserve and protect the wealth of your creation, for our own flourishing and the flourishing of future generations. Amen.

Prayer

God with us,

It is truly a gift to share work that is inherently meaningful, thanks to the many ways it improves people’s lives and shows forth your mercy. Yet even in the mundane and ordinary tasks we will find ourselves doing, help us approach these labors, too, as means of connecting with you. Let all those who are especially burdened by the demands of their job find fresh inspiration today. Amen.

World Day of the Sick

World Day of the Sick

Prayer

Gracious God,

On this World Day of the Sick, we pause to renew our personal and organizational commitment to embody the spirit of the Good Samaritan. May we likewise be moved with compassion at the sight of a stranger in need. May we likewise be ready to bear their burdens and love them, sacrificially, without conditions or judgment, and with such generosity of spirit and provision that we all are aware of your kingdom come and coming, thanks to your grace and our obedience to the law of Christ. As we all await that day when sickness and death shall be no more, we pray. Amen.

Prayer

Creative God,

We continue to invite your guiding hand to lead us as a ministry, as we work to improve the health and well-being of our communities. Bless us in that effort, as individuals and as teams, so as to sustain a ministry culture that thrives on creativity, curiosity, and the willingness to put innovative ideas into action. Open our hearts and minds to listen to new ideas and share our own, in ways that advance your mission effectively and improve the quality of our service. Amen.

Prayer

God of joy,

We know there will be pain and sadness in many of the rooms that your people will enter today. We pray, therefore, for our ministry’s caregivers serving at bedsides, that they may be gifted to bring peace and compassion to all those they serve. To the extent possible, let them also share your spirit of joy, even in some of the hardest circumstances. For all our sake, may we celebrate needed moments of levity and laughter with grateful hearts. Amen.

International Day of Prayer Against Human Trafficking

International Day of Prayer Against Human Trafficking

Prayer (adapted from Talitha Kum, “Vigil of Prayer”)

Liberating God,

We pray for all victims and survivors of trafficking, wars, and conflicts, who have endured suffering yet continue to show courage and resilience. Grant them peace in their hearts and restore their dignity, wounded by violence and injustice. Inspire leaders and communities to act with courage against exploitation, war, and every form of oppression. Touch the hearts of those who harm others, guiding them toward justice, reconciliation, and compassion, so that all may live in freedom, respect, and lasting peace. May people everywhere join hands to build a world where peace begins with dignity for all.  Amen.
