World Day of the Sick
Reflection
“Bear one another’s burdens, and so you will fulfill the law of Christ.” –Galatians 6:2
Prayer
Gracious God,
On this World Day of the Sick, we pause to renew our personal and organizational commitment to embody the spirit of the Good Samaritan. May we likewise be moved with compassion at the sight of a stranger in need. May we likewise be ready to bear their burdens and love them, sacrificially, without conditions or judgment, and with such generosity of spirit and provision that we all are aware of your kingdom come and coming, thanks to your grace and our obedience to the law of Christ. As we all await that day when sickness and death shall be no more, we pray. Amen.
Call to Action
This year’s World Day of the Sick theme is: “The compassion of the Samaritan: loving by bearing another’s pain.” Reread the story of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37). “Go and do likewise.”
