Prayer

God of the new,

As your people, serving your people, remind us of our calling to model the new way of living you won for us, through the ministry of your son, Jesus. In our words and actions and the many decisions we make each day, let us each do our part in restoring hope within our communities of a future worth having—a future which you are now bringing to pass among us and through the work we do in your name. In faith, we pray that our shared works of compassion today will serve as yet another, undeniable sign, that the old is fading away and the new has come! Amen.

Prayer

Gracious God,

As we extend your healing compassion today and into the future, open our hearts and minds to a continual process of learning new discoveries for the good of all. On a ministry level and a personal level, across all of our diverse fields of expertise, make us truly excited about finding out what we didn’t know and the wisdom to do something about it. My we have courage to test new and innovative ideas as we continue to deliver high quality care for all people, especially those who are poor, dying, and underserved. Amen.

Reflection “Let us cultivate relationships! In an era that favors speed and fragmentation, the human person still yearns to receive care and recognition from attentive minds, kind words and hands capable of tenderness.” –Pope Leo XIV

Prayer

Spirit of grace,

Many of those who come to us for healing are just as desperate for simple human connection; the experience of recognition; the knowledge that they are seen and worthy of attention, just as they are. For our own sake as much as theirs, help us cultivate relationships that keep us anchored on the value of our shared humanity. Especially when the pace of life and its many pressures can threaten our sense of unity, remind us that we can revive the tenderness of compassion, inviting all to the gift of being human together. Amen.

Prayer

Living God,

We call on you today, giver of life, to strengthen the hearts of those who are sick and to comfort those who are grieving. For caregivers at besides, sustain them—as they so often carry the weight of suffering each day. And when we ourselves are brought to tears by loss, remind us that you have promised to console and comfort us directly, and that we have been equipped to console and comfort each other. As we wait in hope for that glorious day when death will be destroyed, and life will reign everlasting, we pray. Amen.

World Mental Health Day

World Mental Health Day

Prayer

God of grace,

On World Mental Health Day, give each of us the courage to bring all our worries, fears, and struggles to you, knowing that you care for us. May we be a ministry that cares for each other as much as we care for those who come to us seeking assistance, especially with mental health and well-being. Fill our hearts with more of your peace, compassion, and truth, that we might hear their stories and listen to their voices, for the sake of making real changes that benefit all. Amen.

Memorial of St. John Henry Newman

Memorial of St. John Henry Newman

Prayer

God of kindness,
As we celebrate the memorial of John Henry Newman today teach us that love grows when it is freely given, not held back for ourselves. When we find ourselves longing for encouragement, help us instead to notice the good in others and speak it aloud. Open our eyes to the dignity and gifts present in every person we meet and give us the courage to affirm them with sincerity. May our words of encouragement build up those around us and reflect the generosity of your love. In gratitude, we pray. Amen.

Prayer

God of joy,
You remind us that a cheerful heart can sustain us and help us persevere in doing what is good. In moments of weariness or challenge, renew our spirits and lift our hearts so that we may continue serving our patients with hope and grace. Help us to carry a steady joy that reflects your presence within us, even amid the demands of daily life. May our good spirits strengthen those around us and point them toward your peace. With joyful hearts, we pray. Amen.
