Reflection

“[The people of God] are to model the new heaven and new earth, and by so doing awaken longings for what God will someday bring to pass.” –Philip Yancey

Prayer

God of the new,

As your people, serving your people, remind us of our calling to model the new way of living you won for us, through the ministry of your son, Jesus. In our words and actions and the many decisions we make each day, let us each do our part in restoring hope within our communities of a future worth having—a future which you are now bringing to pass among us and through the work we do in your name. In faith, we pray that our shared works of compassion today will serve as yet another, undeniable sign, that the old is fading away and the new has come! Amen.
