Trusting in your presence to comfort and guide, we pray for all those who are brokenhearted today. Send us as agents of your compassion to them, that we might lift them in spirit as much as provide concrete help for the physical ailments or emotional traumas they may be experiencing. Let humility be our guide as we extend your love and mercy to all those humbled already by life’s many challenges. Amen.

We encounter many people whose burdens are magnified by the pain of loneliness. As we extend your compassion to them today, help us go above and beyond the immediate needs they face. Enable us also to see them as whole persons and to accompany them with a simple, human presence that communicates kindness, friendship, and solidarity. With gratitude, as one human family journeying together, even in times of darkness, we pray. Amen.

Today as we celebrate the heavenly apparition that occurred in Ireland, 1879, we are drawn to reflect on the gift of your Word, which continues to speak even in the depth of silence. Let the examples of your saints and especially of Mary your mother guide all of us to listen more deeply to the sound of your voice speaking in the quiet of our hearts. There in your presence, may we be filled with a peace beyond understanding and a faith that builds our resilience in the face of life’s many challenges. Amen.

It doesn’t take long as we grow and develop, to discover how easily we can be hurt by the people around us and how easy it is to respond in kind, hurting them back. As we continue through life’s many adventures, lead us each day in the way of forgiveness, that we might assuage the pain of brokenness that comes from our weakness. May we imitate your graciousness and show an abundance of mercy, both towards ourselves and especially to those who need our forgiveness. That all may walk in freedom, we pray, Amen.

We honor Mary’s bodily assumption into heaven today and rest in the assurance it gives, especially to those of us serving in your ministry of healing. For we know that your work of redemption includes our physical bodies, along with the rest of material creation! Therefore, fill us with hope as we care for patients now struggling with bodily sickness and physical suffering. Give us strength and stamina to continue extending your work of redemption, guided by Mary’s example and with the grace of her intercession. Amen.

Remind us that even the smallest act of love carries the power to restore and awaken the soul. Given the selfless example of Maximilian Kolbe, help us to choose kindness, compassion, and generosity in every moment, especially when it feels most needed. May our actions bring life where there is weariness, hope where there is discouragement, and light where there is darkness. Let your love flow through us, renewing both the giver and the receiver.
