EMS Week (May 17-23)

Prayer

Gracious God,

During EMS Week we give thanks for those who serve on the front lines with courage, skill, and compassion. You remind us that life is shaped not by what we receive, but by what we freely give, especially in moments of crisis and need. Bless EMS professionals as they give their time, strength, and hearts for the sake of others. When the work is heavy and the sacrifices unseen, renew their spirits with purpose and hope. May their giving continue to make a life of service that reflects your steadfast care for all. In gratitude, we pray. Amen.

Prayer

God of love,

In Catholic healthcare, you call us to serve one another through love, following the example of Jesus the Healer. Shape our hands to bring comfort, our words to bring hope, and our presence to reflect your compassion. When the work is demanding and the days are long, remind us that love is the heart of our service. Help us see each person not as a task, but as your beloved child entrusted to our care. May our service become a living witness to your healing love in the world. Amen.

Memorial of St. Brendan

Memorial of St. Brendan

Prayer

Loving God,

On the feast of St. Brendan, we give thanks for the courage to set out into the unknown, trusting not in our own strength but in your guiding Spirit. Like Brendan, help us to raise our sails in faith, believing that your Spirit is the wind that carries us where we are meant to go. When the waters are uncertain and the horizon unclear, steady our hearts with trust rather than fear. Teach us to release our need for control and to follow your lead with openness and hope. May every journey we take draw us closer to you and to the life you are continually inviting us into. We pray this to the God who loved us first. Amen.

Prayer

God of wonder and healing,
Open our eyes to recognize the miracles present in even the smallest moments of care. Teach us that if we truly saw the beauty and dignity in each person we serve, it would transform the way we live and work. Slow us down to notice the sacred in the ordinary, the quiet strength, the small recoveries, the human connection. May this awareness deepen our compassion and renew our purpose in serving all people, but especially those who are poor, dying and underserved. Amen.

Ascension of the Lord

Ascension of the Lord

Prayer

God of mercy and promise,

We give thanks for the gift of Jesus, who blessed his disciples and ascended to heaven, leaving his Spirit to guide and strengthen us. Help us to carry his blessing into our daily work, offering hope to those we serve. May we trust in his presence, even when we cannot physically see him, knowing that his love sustains and empowers us. We ask this in your name. Amen.

Prayer

God of wisdom and courage,

Teach us to embrace failure as a part of the journey toward growth and innovation. In our work, especially in healthcare, help us to take bold steps, try new approaches, and learn from each challenge. Remind us that even in mistakes, your guidance and love are present, shaping us into more compassionate and skilled caregivers. May our willingness to risk, learn, and persevere lead to meaningful progress and service for those in need. Amen.
