Gracious God,

As the new year unfolds, we know the same headwinds facing us in healthcare will still be with us tomorrow, along with new challenges sure to arise. Yet we also trust that you will continue to do wondrous things among us as we stay anchored in our purpose and devoted to carrying your mission forward. For all who are vulnerable today and waiting for help, use us to share Your compassion and love, so that all may sing a new song. Amen.

God on the move,

Your spirit invites us to keep in step with what you’re doing and to join you in the movement of your mission in the world. Empower us, through discernment and grace, to see what you’re up to and to join in with conviction, determination, and boldness. Yes, as the New Year begins, deepen our gifts and talents across this ministry. Give us especially a spirit-filled agility combined with tenacity, that we might succeed in extending more of your compassion across the globe. And when hesitation rises, remind us that you walk with us into every unknown. Amen.

We pause to celebrate the year now behind us and we commit to dream boldly for the sake of the year ahead. No matter our age or season of life, give us courage to live deeper into your calling for each of us, so that every new goal would be a doorway to your vision of love and grace. Silence the voices of fear and pessimism that keep us from stepping forward in faith; and fill us instead with hope and imagination. In the power of solidarity, with you and each other, we pray. Amen.

We are not designed to work as machines, endlessly spinning our gears. Rather, we know we must follow your own example and carve out some time for rest. As the year continues to wind down, we pray for those who are especially burdened right now by the work they carry and for all those who are struggling to rest from their labor. Help us to be a community of support for them and each other, protecting from exhaustion and insisting that people take the rest they deserve. Amen.

May our eyes be open to seeing your glory shining through every facet of your creation, including each other. Let the beauty of your creation inspire us to beautify our own communities in every which way, mirroring your loveliness in the way we love our neighbors, especially those most in need.
