Prayer

Servant love,

With gratitude for the many hands required to perform your ministry today and all the hours invested to serve effectively, we pray a special blessing upon every one of our associates devoted to the sacred purpose of service that unites us. Speak to each, no matter their role or function, in ways they can hear and affirm for them the connection between the duties they perform and the success of your mission in our community. Whether at bedside or behind the scenes, may all be granted endurance, peace, and the assurance that their acts of service are never in vain. Amen.

Reflection “Blessed the man who follows not the counsel of the wicked. Nor walks in the way of sinners, nor sits in the company of the insolent, but delights in the law of the LORD and meditates on his law day and night.” –Psalm 1:1-2

Prayer

Gracious God,

You have not withheld your guidance on how we should live. For this we are grateful. Yet we are often recalcitrant and choose to be shaped by influences that are hardly so healthy. As individuals and as a society, strengthen our resolve to trust and obey more of the loving instruction you have so graciously provided for our good. In the pages of Scripture, in the saintly lives of those gone before us, in any example of authentic, self-giving love—inspire us to meditate and delight in such media. And in so doing, may we and our culture be changed. Amen.

Prayer

God of life,

As we strive to alleviate suffering and protect the vulnerable today, may we also be blessed with the gift of authentic, soul-cleansing laughter. Surprise us with experiences that bring us a sense of inner freedom and release us of the burdens we carry, however briefly. In even the most unexpected places and unlikely encounters, let laughter erupt and remind us that we are ultimately one human family, united across every difference and destined to share eternity together and with you, in the unceasing joy of being part of your family. Amen.

Prayer

God of healing,

Let a spirit of gratitude bubble among us today and throughout our facilities this week, as we recognize and celebrate all those serving in primary care. May these dedicated servants find themselves richly blessed as we lift them up as colleagues, friends, and partners on mission. Despite the many challenges and distractions they face, empower them with personal joy and professional expertise in equal measure, that they may continue providing quality care while building the human community, affirming the dignity of each and every patient they encounter. Amen.

Prayer

Word of life,

In today’s fast-paced health care environment, we always appreciate a good word that encourages us to keep going, especially when we may struggle to know if our efforts are making a difference. Fill us today with your encouraging spirit, that we might sustain our commitment to pursue the mission you’ve given with faithfulness, hope, and joy. May we encourage one another with kind words and gestures that reaffirm the significance of the work we perform. Amen.

Reflection “Silence in the face of evil is itself evil: God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act.” –Dietrich Bonhoeffer Prayer God of justice, There are so many oppressed and vulnerable peopl

Prayer

God of justice,

There are so many oppressed and vulnerable people among us, beside us, and in our communities, waiting for support, help, and protection. Faced with their need and your call to respond, it is a dark spirit that tempts us to do nothing instead but mind our own business and keep our heads down. Goad us into action that we might expose the evil we see and to continue advocating for those particularly harmed by injustice. Inspire us to remember that we truly belong to each other, as sisters and brothers, and that you have called us to provide comfort and refuge for all those who are needy, without qualification. Amen.

Prayer

God of today,

We celebrate the many ways you’ve used us effectively in the past, as individuals and as a ministry, to bless the people and places around us. Yet we begin this day knowing that your mission does not rest in the past, and there are others now waiting and longing for good help, compassionate care, and the resources they need to flourish. Encourage us for their sake, to live in the moment and treat each day as if it were a new beginning and a fresh opportunity to answer your call, becoming good neighbors once again to each other. For the sake of those most in need, we pray. Amen.
