God of Light and Life,

As Nurses week continues, we take time to reflect on the invitation each of us has been given, to extend your good work in the world around us. What a tremendous blessing it is, to bring our many different skills and gifts into this divine mission of health and well-being! For our patients and families, for our wider communities, guide us to be ever more unified, innovative, and effective in sharing your healing compassion. May others see these good deeds and ultimately give you praise. For the life of the world, we pray. Amen.

Prayer

Spirit of Service,

We thank you for the unshakable devotion of our nurses, who carry your spirit of service with them wherever they go. Even as their roles and functions may change, it’s their calling to care remains, anchored as it is in your own abundant love and compassion. Give them perseverance, protection, and strength to accomplish their work, today and each day, and remind them it is never in vain. May we all be inspired to renew our commitment to our many and varied vocations, so that your ministry may continue to flourish now and into the future. As your hands and feet to a world in need, we pray. Amen.

Prayer

Empowering God,

As we acknowledge the incredible contributions of our nurses this week, we are also eager to intercede on their behalf. Empower them afresh each day, to meet the many obstacles they face with courage and compassion, guided by your spirit. For the many sacrifices they make in order to bring good help and advance our mission, we thank you. For the long hours and difficult shifts and sometimes difficult patients, we ask you to reward them with a greater number of tangible blessings, words of kindness and signs of gratitude, including our own support and encouragement. Filled with gratitude, we pray. Amen.

Healing Love,

Nurses Week provides us a welcome opportunity to recognize these incredible health care workers, who so faithfully provide comfort, compassion, and caring to patients and families, each and every day. Our nurses are truly a breed apart, as they unite their skills, talents, and expertise with their heartfelt commitment to serve others in times of distress and great vulnerability. We are proud to honor our nurses for their exemplary service and ask for you to bless them richly, as they continue to reflect your very own comfort, compassion, and care to humanity in myriad ways. Amen.

Prayer

Comforting God,

For those who are suffering today from sickness or disease or any other ailment, we pray that you would accompany them with tenderness and send us to do the same in your name. As we strive to bring good help to those in need, empower us with not just skill and expertise in medicine, but also with the human capacity to enter another’s suffering so as to somehow be a part of their healing and liberation. Let the mourning we encounter be changed into dancing, as we partner with you to serve others. Humbly we pray. Amen.

God who provides,

As we unite our efforts to extend your mission of healing today, we pray that you would continue to provide all that we need to bring high quality care to our patients and families, and to improve the well-being of our communities in ways that ultimately benefit us all. We are committed to being good stewards with the abundance you have given, so teach us where to invest and strive for more growth, while at the same time being patient and pensive, as so many factors influence our ministry’s success. One thing we know above all: you are faithful, you are good, and you will provide. Amen.

Prayer
God of Healing and Compassion,
Strong mental health is vital for the lives we live, the work we do, and the relationships we cherish. As we begin Mental Health Awareness Month, we ask for your guidance to be attentive and compassionate toward those who struggle with mental health challenges. Grant us patience to walk alongside them on their path to healing and understanding that recovery takes time. May our words and actions provide comfort, hope, and encouragement, reflecting your love and care. For all who struggle, and for those who support them, we pray. Amen.
