Every glimmer of hope—the healing of a patient, the birth of a child, the kindness of healthcare workers—reminds us of your ever-present light shining through our days. You call us each day to give of ourselves for the sake of others—their needs, their hopes, and their dreams. Through your boundless love, we understand that when we reach out to our brothers and sisters, especially those who are poor and vulnerable, it is your hand they feel through our care. Our mission impels us to serve those who are most vulnerable, while at the same time advocating for a more just and equitable society overall. Lead us further in this work so that everyone’s needs might be secured. In our personal lives, too, help us to practice resourcefulness with all we’ve been given, and to consider how else we can share with those who are lacking. Help us avoid the temptation to store up for ourselves more than we need and be ready instead to give as you give—abundantly and joyfully! Amen.
