Prayer
Faithful Lord, we know that too often indigenous peoples have been treated unjustly and unfairly. On this day that celebrates the world’s indigenous peoples, we pray that treaties will be honored, agreements will be respected, and other constructive arrangements will be esteemed. May we strive to be just in our relations with all peoples. Give us the courage that we may always act rightly towards one another, shaped by the example of your Son, Jesus. Amen.

Loving God, it is often in difficult times that we become more aware of our dependence upon you. Strengthen our faith that we might trust only in your goodness and truth. Fill our hearts with your love that our faith might find daily expression in compassion and mercy. We pray in your name. Amen.

Faithful God, You have created and called us to be people of goodness. Fill our hearts today with your Holy Spirit. Open our eyes that we may see that others are truly our sisters and brothers. Touch us with your grace that we might treat our sisters and brothers with dignity and respect. Encourage us by the example of Jesus and the good people in our lives to commit ourselves to the pursuit of goodness. We pray in your name, Amen.

God of peace, on this date, we recall the transfiguration of your Son, Jesus. Send your Spirit among us that we too might be transfigured. With each day, make us ever more into a reflection of your love and compassion. Make us instruments of your peace and justice, that through our commitment to you, the world also might be transfigured into a place of goodness, equality, and love. Amen.

Merciful God, we know that all too often in life we fall short of the mark. And yet, we trust in your mercy. We thank you for the opportunity to begin again and to strive to become the people you have created and called us to be. Give us the courage not only to accept your forgiveness but to offer forgiveness to those who have harmed us. Enlighten our hearts that we might pursue reconciliation with all our sisters and brothers. Amen.

God of goodness and justice, though we are passing through a dark valley in our history, we trust in your presence and goodness. Help us to be particularly mindful of all those who work each day to keep us safe and secure. In a special way, we pray for the women and men of Bon Secours Mercy Health who risk their lives daily to create a safer and healthier world. Hear us as we call to you and walk with us as we continue along this challenging path. We pray in your name. Amen.
God of compassion, thank you for the gift of our shared ministry. Fill our hearts and minds with your Holy Spirit. Inspire us through the example of humble and dedicated women and men throughout the ages. Open our eyes that we might see in others your presence. Open our hearts that we might reach out in love to all people, especially people who are poor and marginalized. We pray as we live, in your name. Amen.
