Reflection

“But though you are master of might, you judge with clemency, and with much lenience you govern us; for power, whenever you will, attends you.” –Wisdom 12:18

Prayer

Almighty God,

Your son’s ministry among us revealed what true authority and ultimate power look like: patience, kindness, and especially a willingness to serve. As we all try to follow your mighty example today, we lift up as well all those who have been specially trusted with positions of power and influence. Instruct them in the ways they can use their positions to better secure the good of all, especially those who are most vulnerable among us. In imitation of your own great might, may they govern with lenience and judge with clemency. Amen.
