Prayer

God of love,
You remind us that what matters most in life is not the greatness of our deeds, but the greatness of our love. Teach us to offer love in the small, everyday moments, knowing that these acts carry deep meaning in your eyes. May our words, actions, and service be rooted in compassion and humility, and touch the lives of those we serve each day, especially those who are poor, dying and underserved. Help us to love as you love, freely and without measure. Amen.

Prayer

God of all people,
You created each of us with beautiful differences that reflect the fullness of your love. Remind us that, though we are not the same, we are united as your children, equal in dignity and worth. Help us to honor one another with respect, compassion, and openness of heart. May our differences never divide us but instead draw us closer in understanding and peace. Amen.

Reflection “Beloved: The end of all things is at hand. Therefore be serious and sober-minded so that you will be able to pray. Above all, let your love for one another be intense, because love covers a multitude of sins.” –1 Peter 4:7-

Prayer

God over time,

Without looking too far it surely can seem as if the end of all things is at hand! Just as it must have seemed for those early disciples gathered around your son, two thousand years ago. Each day we are tasked with choosing how to spend the gift of time which you have generously provided, and yet will someday draw to a close. May that thought inspire hope rather than fear in us. Indeed by your Spirit empower us all the more boldly, to pray earnestly and to love our neighbors intensely, putting love into action in ways that cover a multitude of sins. Let your kingdom come and will be done, through us. Amen.

Reflection “Most of the things we need to be most fully alive never come in busyness. They grow in rest.” –Mark Buchanan Prayer Spirit of rest, We are especially mindful of those associates serving in patient-facing roles today.

Prayer

Spirit of rest,

We are especially mindful of those associates serving in patient-facing roles today. You have called them to be walking signs of your compassion to people in need, and they accept that great mission with devotion and dedication. Empower them, each and every day, but especially in those moments when the strain of busyness begins to take a toll. Form us into an authentic community of support and resilience, for each other as well as for those we serve, so that all your people in need of rest may find it. In communion with you, giver of life itself. Amen.

Prayer

God over all,

The gifts and talents within our ministry are truly astounding! With gratitude for your blessings among us, help us create a work environment that welcomes innovation and creativity, as we learn to respond to so many challenges across the healthcare spectrum. No matter our role or function, help us be willing to try new things and welcome new ideas, and also to be gracious when plans don’t materialize in the ways that we’d hoped. May we enact a culture that reframes “failure” as part and parcel of our growth together, as we develop efficient and effective ways to better meet the needs of all our patients and families. Inspired by your own hope for this world, we pray. Amen.

Prayer

Compassionate God,

We are all-too aware that if we neglect our own needs long enough, we eventually become burned out and drained, unable to be present to people we otherwise long to serve. Protect us from learning these truths the hard way. Instead, give us awareness and discernment, to know when we must step away from the tasks at hand, to breathe and recenter, so we then can continue extending compassion with sincerity, authenticity, and heart-filled grace. Amen.

“Prayer for Memorial Day,” U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops

God of power and mercy,

You destroy war and put down earthly pride. Banish violence from our midst and wipe away our tears, that we may all deserve to be called your sons and daughters. Keep in your mercy those men and women who have died in the cause of freedom and bring them safely into your kingdom of justice and peace. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
