Prayer

Living God,

Whether we are conscious of it or not, the ways in which we live our lives are the loudest expressions of what we really believe and value. Sometimes it’s hard to stay true, but we ask for the courage to practice a deeper integrity in all that we say and do. Empower especially those caregivers serving directly the neighbors among us who are especially vulnerable. May their compassionate presence on behalf of those in need express your very own heart for the world, that comfort and peace will flow more freely among us. Amen.

National Hospital Week

Prayer

Healing Love,

We welcome this opportunity to celebrate Hospital Week and to say a hearty “thank you” to all our health care professionals, serving in our many sites of care. For their enduring commitment in providing well-being and good help, we ask you to reward them with ongoing inspiration and perseverance. May all our communities envision the hospitals within our ministry as places of deep compassion and genuine healing, where the healing effects of dignity are experienced to the full. For all those serving in hospitals today, we pray. Amen.

Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day

Prayer

Gracious God,

We pause on Mother’s Day to express our gratitude for all our mothers and the myriad ways mothers have blessed and benefited our lives. Thank you for your own maternal heart, as we ask for the strength to receive fully your blessings of motherhood. May we each have a vision to protect and nurture the beauty of the family in society, our own families and the families around us. With moms as our anchors, may generations upon generations be blessed and may we bless you in return! Amen.

Prayer

God of love,

Bless our nurses. May they know the truth of the difference they make in the lives of patients and their families, in the lives of their colleagues and co-workers, in the life of the communities in which they serve. May they know the gratitude of our entire ministry, thankful for who they are and what they do despite the many challenges and obstacles they face. May they know the depths of your love for each of them. And may they continue to respond to your call to embody the compassionate ministry of Jesus in their lives and work. Together, we pray. Amen.

Prayer

God of all creation,

This week, we have been devoting prayerful attention to all our nurses. Each day, they embody our mission, vision, and values with such an inspiring level of commitment and courage. Our nurses go above and beyond the call of duty, putting the needs of others first. Our nurses are the heart and soul of the ministry we share together. In prayer, we thank you for them and ask you to guide and care for them as they care for each of us, today and always. Amen.

Prayer

Patient God,

We often pray for more patience, especially when we are down to our last nerve with certain situations.  Help us to see that these situations are ways to practice patience rather than trying our patience, guiding us to navigate future situations in a less stressful way.  For more times of patient waiting, we pray. Amen.
