Third Sunday in Lent
Reflection
“Merciful and gracious is the LORD, slow to anger and abounding in kindness. For as the heavens are high above the earth, so surpassing is his kindness toward those who fear him.”
–Psalm 103:8, 11
Prayer
Merciful God,
Your kindness towards us in infinite, measureless, boundless and free. Help us, as we strive to serve you by serving those most vulnerable, to be as kind and generous in mercy with them as you are with us. Forgive us, especially in this season of Lent, for times when our kindness has been lacking, and we’ve performed our service from a heart of duty and obligation, rather than joy in our calling. For those especially in need of refreshment in this regard, we ask for your abundant life to fill them anew and fan the flame of their desire to continue bringing good help to others. For the joy set before us, we pray. Amen.
