“Are not two sparrows sold for a small coin? Yet not one of them falls to the ground without your Father's knowledge. Even all the hairs of your head are counted. So do not be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.” –Matthew 10:29-31

Prayer

Gracious God,

Your watchful attention over all your creatures brings us comfort. And your words remind us that you treasure all people, bestowing them with inherent value, which can never be lost or taken away. Lead us today into a more grateful awareness of your constant affection for us and our neighbors. For all those who are sick today, we ask you to encourage them with your accompanying presence, and may we be extensions of your presence for each other. This day and each day, Amen.

How can I better show my appreciation for the inherent value of each person I meet today? Practice solidarity today, by reminding myself that we are all united by the same inherent dignity.
