Reflection

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give it to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid.” –John 14:27

Prayer

God of peace,

We tend to think of peace as a day without fighting. Yet the death and resurrection of your son Jesus have won for us a peace beyond all understanding. It transforms the world, effecting forgiveness within and between us, and healing the wounds of injustice. May we receive this peace today in our hearts and be willing to extend it through all we say and do. Whether it is our work at the bedside, the interventions we perform, our routine interactions at desks, in the lab, on the phone, in the café, wherever we happen to be serving today, help us be agents of peace, uplifting the dignity of everyone we encounter and serving the good of all. Amen.

Call to Action

When I encounter someone today whose heart is troubled and needs the blessing of peace, be willing to share the peace I’ve received.
