Reflection
“The Apostles gathered together with Jesus and reported all they had done and taught. He said to them, ‘Come away by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while.’” –Mark 6:30-31
Prayer
Healing God,
Many times, we have felt the joy that comes from extending your healing presence in the lives of others. It makes us feel humble in the very best sense: grateful, that we get to play our own small parts in the ever-greater work you are doing in the world today. Yet we also know the other side, too: how your call to serve is often inconvenient, frequently frustrating, and many times just plain exhausting. In times such as these, when our spirits are willing, but our flesh feels so weak… or even when our spirits are weary as well…Lead us to rest a while with you that our enthusiasm and dedication might be renewed. Amen.
Call to Action
Block off my schedule today for a moment of rest. Give myself permission to “come away” from the work and find peace, in the ways I know how.
