Reflection

“People end up homeless because their path in life has gone in a totally different direction to the one they expected, often through no fault of their own. And most of us are very lucky our path in life has gone in another direction, usually through little credit to ourselves. Solidarity means we see other people as ourselves, and their problems become our problems.” –Peter McVerry

Prayer

God,

We should always give thanks for the goodness you have shown to us all, as our common Creator. Without qualification, you are good, and you love all that you have made. Yet the world as we know it is also broken in so many ways. Some are advantaged by an unjust system while others are disenfranchised. And yet you love all that you have made. As we strive to extend your love for the world, help us to see as you see, to love as you love, and to bring restoration for those who are without the most basic securities, of food and shelter. Lead us to embody solidarity with them today. Amen.

Call to Action

Take time to focus my heart on those who are homeless. Consider how I see them and, as needed, practice seeing through the eyes of solidarity.
