The Catholic Church continues the ministry of Jesus Christ though formal ministries of the Church. Certain entities (such as religious congregations) are given the right and responsibility to initiate and provide oversight of ministries in the name of the Church. These entities are called public juridic persons (PJP), also known as sponsors.
Bon Secours Mercy Ministries (BSMM) is designated as a PJP by the Church and is the sponsor of Bon Secours Mercy Health (BSMH), an official Catholic ministry of the Church.
