Memorial of the Irish Martyrs

Memorial of the Irish Martyrs

Prayer

Abundant Life,

Today we remember many of the faithful witnesses before us, who shared your good news and embodied your love despite facing misunderstanding, hostility, and even the threat of death. On this Memorial of the Irish Martyrs, we are inspired by the faith of those who shared in the ultimacy of your sacrifice, and we recommit to praying for the day when your world will be transformed and death is no more. Until that day comes, help us embody our own faith with the same degree of commitment and love, pursuing the cause of justice, peace, and the common good. Amen.

Juneteenth

Juneteenth

Prayer

God of freedom and promise,
On this Juneteenth we give thanks for the new dawn that blooms when people step out of the shadows and into truth and dignity. Help us be brave enough to see the light you place before us and be courageous enough to carry that light for others. Heal the wounds of injustice, strengthen our resolve to walk together in equity, and renew our hope for a more just tomorrow.
May we not only welcome the light of freedom, but live it, aflame with love, unafraid in faith, and committed to liberation for all. In gratitude we pray, Amen.

Prayer

God of new beginnings,
You remind us that you are always doing something new, even when we find ourselves in wilderness moments. Open our eyes to perceive the paths you are creating and the rivers of possibility you are bringing forth. Inspire us with holy imagination and courage to be innovative, trusting that your Spirit guides fresh ideas toward healing, hope, and life. May we partner with you in shaping new ways forward, confident that you make a way where none seems possible. Amen.

Loneliness Awareness Week continues

Loneliness Awareness Week continues

Prayer

Loving God,

As we continue observing Loneliness Awareness Week, empower us as a ministry and as people of conscience, to keep our attention focused on those who are suffering from a lack of community and connection. May our mission send us deeper in works of service and advocacy, extending compassion on behalf of those who are socially poor alongside those who are poor and vulnerable in other ways, too. Whether our patients and families or our colleagues and neighbors, let your loving embrace for this one human family inspire each of us to become more aware of the lonely and to welcome them into our circle of concern and belonging. In your name we pray. Amen.

God of the New Year,

May every year find us in good health, renewed hope, and abundant peace as we recognize the Hijri New Year. May this sacred beginning bring blessings to us and our loved ones, and may the year ahead be filled with mercy, gratitude, and grace. We ask this in your name, Amen.

Reflection “At times, our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us.” -Albert Schweitzer Prayer Gracious Go

Prayer

Gracious God,
In the quiet and busy moments of our working with patients, we know there are times when our own light grows dim. We thank you for colleagues, patients, and caregivers whose compassion and courage rekindles hope within us. Help us to recognize with deep gratitude those who light our flame, and in turn, make us gentle sparks of healing, comfort, and love for all we serve. For this we pray, Amen.

Prayer

God of hope,
We give thanks for all who freely offer one hour of their time so that another may have the gift of life. Bless blood donors with renewed strength and remind us that small acts of generosity can carry profound healing. Inspire us to give of ourselves with willing hearts, trusting that love shared, even briefly, can save a life and reflect your mercy in the world. With hope for all those in need of blood, we pray. Amen.
