Memorial of St. Jarlath

Prayer

God in stillness,

As we remember St. Jarlath today, we are inspired by a life so devoted to prayer, study, and good works for others. In our own ways today, give us a measure of peace, so that we too can be still, get to know you and ourselves better, and then act in ways that extend your presence with and for others. We all long at times for a quiet moment to recoup and refresh. May the saints’ own habits inspire us to embrace prayerful silence whenever and wherever we can. Amen.

World Environment Day

Prayer

God of creation,
On this World Environment Day, we marvel at the beauty of your creation. Inspire us to care for the natural world with the same love and reverence with which you created it. Help us to protect, preserve, and nurture every tree, plant, and living creature, so that the earth may continue to flourish. May our actions honor your gift and reflect our gratitude for the life and beauty that surrounds us. Amen.

Prayer

God of kindness,
You have placed within each of us the power to brighten the lives of others through simple acts of thoughtfulness and care. Help us to be intentional in sharing kind words, gestures, and encouragement each day. May we recognize the opportunities before us to lift others’ spirits and bring joy to their hearts. Guide us to be mindful, creative, and generous in our love, so that your light may shine through us to everyone we meet. Amen.

Prayer

God of all creation,
You call us to hear both the cry of the earth and the cry of the poor, reminding us that care for our world and care for one another are deeply connected. Open our hearts to listening with compassion and respond with justice, especially to those whose voices are too often ignored. Guide us to be faithful stewards of the earth while standing in solidarity with those most affected by its wounds. May our actions reflect your love, bringing healing, dignity, and hope to all. Amen.

PTSD Awareness Month

PTSD Awareness Month

Prayer

God who walks with us,
For those who live with pain that is not only in the past but present each day, remind them that they do not walk alone. When memories surface and strength feels thin, be their steady companion in the ordinary moments of life. Surround them with patience, understanding, and gentle care from those of us who serve them. Help us to recognize the quiet courage it takes to face each day and to offer compassion without judgment. In your constant presence, we pray. Amen.

Alzheimer and Brain Awareness Month

Prayer

God who sustains,
You promise us, “I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you,” and we cling to these words during Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month. Be especially close to those living with memory loss, confusion, and fear, strengthening them with your steady presence and peace. Help us to support families and caregivers with patience, compassion, and endurance as they walk this journey day by day with their loved ones. Help us to honor the dignity of every person, remembering that even when memories fade, your love never does. Amen.

Prayer

God of love,
You remind us that what matters most in life is not the greatness of our deeds, but the greatness of our love. Teach us to offer love in the small, everyday moments, knowing that these acts carry deep meaning in your eyes. May our words, actions, and service be rooted in compassion and humility, and touch the lives of those we serve each day, especially those who are poor, dying and underserved. Help us to love as you love, freely and without measure. Amen.
