Prayer

God our strength,

We come to you in prayer today and ask you to be our refuge, provide us refreshment, and renew us for the sake of your mission among us. Faced with all the busyness of our agendas, quick-paced decisions, and just the challenge of being fully in the moment and present to each person we meet, we invite you to accompany us with your presence. May every heart find a way to perform their duties with a prayerful spirit, welcoming your strength. Amen.

Prayer

Loving God,

On this memorial of 9/11, we recommit to honor those we’ve lost and do what we can to continue healing as a nation from a wound we will never forget. And yet your spirit calls us forward. In response to your call, let our simple acts of service and kindness be like emblems of the hope we hold for tomorrow. May those who are especially grieving today be filled with your peace beyond understanding and may we all be agents of that same peace to a world so troubled by conflict. In our homes, workplaces, communities, and nations, let there be peace. Amen.

Prayer

Life abundant,

We thank you for the gift of life and are grateful to serve it by providing our patients with high-quality care and our communities with tangible projects that build up health and well-being. As we advance that work forward today, keep us ever mindful that attending to spiritual health is just as crucial for effective action in the world, sustaining us through every challenge we face and giving us discernment about our direction and mission. Strengthen our resolve to be just as devoted to the spiritual health of all those we encounter, serving them well in mind, body, and spirit. Amen.

Source of Prosperity,

One of the greatest rewards for the work that we share is simply our knowing that, no matter our role or what tasks we’ve been given, we’re a part of something bigger than ourselves and all of it is a part of your own ministry of healing. As we celebrate the Feast of St. Ciarán today and remember his example, encourage us to be as faithful in our own response to your calling. Let your kindness fill us each morning and may our days conclude with stories to tell about how you have prospered the work of our hands. For the sake of our patients and families, and our wider communities, prosper this mission! Humbly we pray, Amen.

Prayer

Joyful Spirit,

Our work so often involves high stakes and heavy burdens that sometimes threaten to rob us of joy. As we pursue your mission today, help us hold fast to the gift of laughter so it can give us momentum and agility even in the midst of the challenges. May shared moments of humor build up our sense of belonging, soften our stress, and remind us of our shared humanity. Fill us and strengthen us especially with joy, joyful that we are here today and trusted to bring good help to your people. Amen.

Prayer

Empowering God,

As we strive to extend your compassionate ministry today, we ask you to empower us to do great work together, united by our convictions and the fundamental belief that we are making a difference in the world today, one person at a time. Let us practice the kind of integrity that builds up trust among teammates and colleagues, so that a spirit of cooperation can lead each of us to become our best selves while, at the same time, more effectively meeting the needs of patients, families, and communities. In your spirit, we pray. Amen.

Prayer

Unifying Spirit,

When the issues that divide us become fuel for condescension and derision, lead us instead to step back and recommit to become partners in genuine dialogue, committed to a deeper and more hospitable form of engagement. May we in this ministry exemplify a community like this, anchored on humility and always willing to learn from each other across our differences. For the sake of our personal growth and in service to the common good, help us to think less about winning arguments and more about the flourishing of people together. Amen.
