Independence Day (U.S.)

Prayer

God of freedom,

On this Independence Day, we give thanks for the gift of liberty and the many sacrifices made to secure it. Help us to use our freedom wisely—seeking justice, promoting peace, and caring for one another, especially those who are poor, dying and underserved. May we always remember that true freedom is rooted in love and responsibility. Bless all nations and guide us in your ways. Amen.

Prayer

God who calls us,

As members of the healthcare field, we respond to your invitation to serve with open hearts and willing hands. Just as your Son came not to be served but to serve, may his spirit of humility and compassion guide all we do. Remind us that presence is as healing as action, and that every person who enters our doors carries dignity and worth. Help us to see each encounter as holy and each task as an offering of love. In gratitude for the privilege to serve, we pray. Amen.

Prayer

God of love and truth,

You formed us in love and called us to reflect that love in the world. Yet at times, we struggle to offer love to ourselves, shaped instead by unrealistic expectations or the voices of doubt. Remind us that we are your creation—worthy, valued, and beloved. Help us to embrace our true selves with compassion, so that we might more fully love others as you have asked. Through our authenticity, may your light shine brightly in all we do. Grateful for your love, we pray. Amen.

Prayer

God of steadfast love,

As members of your household, we desire to reflect your compassion in every act of care we offer—whether tending to a patient, comforting a family, or supporting a colleague. May the way we serve reveal the depth of our love for you. Inspired by the unwavering faith of St. Oliver Plunkett, who remained faithful even unto death, help us to live with courage and conviction. Strengthen our hands and hearts as we walk the path of love and mercy beside you. Amen.

Prayer

God of new beginnings,

Each day you gift us with fresh opportunity—to grow, to give, and to reflect your goodness through our words and actions. You’ve placed within us the capacity to be our best selves, not someday, but today. Help us not to wait for the perfect moment, but to live with intention now, using the gifts you’ve given us to bless others and bring hope. May our daily efforts lead to brighter tomorrows, grounded in your love and grace. Amen.

Prayer

God of abundance,

You pour out your love, compassion, and guidance so freely that our days should overflow with praise for you. Though our words can never match the depth of all you do, may our hearts never tire of offering thanks. Let our gratitude shine through our actions, so that others may see your goodness reflected in us. In every moment, may your name be lifted high and honored through the lives we live. Amen.

Prayer

God of compassion,

As we serve our patients and families each day, we strive to care for them with integrity and tenderness, reflecting the healing ministry of Jesus in every encounter. While cure may not always be possible, care always is—and we are called to offer it through love, presence, and support. Walk with us as we walk with others, and let our care be a sign of your constant, comforting presence. Guide us to love as you love, so that those we serve may leave with a deeper awareness of your love for them. In your holy name, we pray. Amen.
