Summer Solstice

Summer Solstice

Prayer

God of the Seasons,

Summer is upon us, where the grass is green, children are playing outside, flowers are budding, bees are buzzing, and life seems to go just a little bit slower. Help us to take time to enjoy these summer days, spending them with family and friends, and knowing that your love for us surrounds us like the summer sun.  Summer has always been a special time to get rejuvenated and find joy in your creation of the outdoors.  Guide us to spend these days wisely, and to be refreshed in your spirit.  We ask this in love, Amen.

Memorial of the Irish Martyrs

Memorial of the Irish Martyrs

Prayer

God our source of strength and courage,

The Memorial of the Irish Martyrs gives us reason to celebrate such great examples of faith-filled men and women, whose heroic virtue encourages us still to this today. They were strong and courageous people, and their faith never failed even in times of turmoil and temptation. We hold them in high regard and honor the lives they led, and the faith we witness through their words and deeds. We ask your blessing upon them and upon all of us, as we each strive to embody a faith-filled life of love in our day. In your name, we pray. Amen.

Juneteenth

Juneteenth

Prayer

God of Human Dignity,

As Bon Secours Mercy Health, we celebrate Juneteenth as a day to remember the freedom of all people, regardless of race, creed or color. Our organizational values call us to respect the Dignity of all people and to advocate for those whose dignity is most at risk of being overlooked or neglected, especially those who are poor, dying and underserved.  Remind us daily that we are all your children and that you love each one of us uniquely, infinitely, and without comparison.  Help us to show this type of love for each other, and through that love freedom will reign. We ask this in the name of the God of love, Amen.

God in our experiences,

We live through so many different types of experiences that help us to learn more about who we are and about the life we are called to live.  Sometimes we get tripped up, and we fail at something we attempt to accomplish.  However, when we take that attempt and try to learn something new, we often come to realize that it was nothing more than a steppingstone to success.  Encourage us to always have the mindset that we will succeed through what we learn by failing. Amen.

PTSD Awareness Month

PTSD Awareness Month

Prayer

God of Strength,

Our world is filled with tragic and horrible events that often leave those involved with living memories from which they find it hard to recover. During this month of PTSD Awareness, help us to be mindful of those who struggle with PTSD and offer a compassionate hand to help in any way possible. We ask, Lord, that you guide them to find services that can offer them strength and ways to cope, leading them back to a life of peace.  We ask this in the name of all those who suffer, Amen.

Father’s Day

Father’s Day

Prayer

God of all our fathers,

You are the prime example of how to care for your children, as you show such love and compassion for your family.  We are thankful this Father’s Day for all fathers, past and present, and for all men who are like fathers to the children of this world. A father’s love reaches deeply into the hearts of those he loves, and that love is then spread onward in numerous ways through his children.  We ask your blessing on all those that celebrate Father’s Day today. Amen.

Prayer

God of all beauty,

The grace and beauty of a butterfly can bring such joy if we are willing to take time to notice. Never aiming to hurt anyone or anything, this delicate creature of yours flutters its way from flower to flower and in the process spreads joy and beauty all around.  May we do the same in our own lives. As we go through our days interacting with our patients and co-workers, may we exhibit beauty and grace with the purpose of spreading your joy to all those we meet. For this we pray, Amen.
