God of peace,

As we strive to extend your compassion today, we pray for a spirit of peace to pervade our workplaces, protecting our colleagues and partners in ministry from the troublesome tensions that sometimes tempt and distract us: division and discord, jealousy and gossip, meanness and pettiness. Keep us focused instead on the mission that calls us together, in service and care of those who are waiting and longing for some measure of peace. Amen.

God of the humble,

As the Church continues to journey through Lent, lead us deeper in your way of humility and gratitude for the ministry you have called us to carry. No matter how long we’ve been serving, inspire each one of us to remain connected to the deeper meaning and purpose that animates your mission among us. We are privileged each day to serve as your hands and feet to our neighbors in need. Help us, therefore, to be faithful to serve them in your name and to show them your love, spurning no one who comes through our doors. Amen.

God who sees us,

Many of our associates perform their work so devotedly, day after day, without fanfare and often without being noticed. Today we are mindful of them and ask that their diligence would be honored and recognized. In the wake of our collective success as a ministry, let the faithfulness of so many servants working in silence be richly rewarded. As we continue to work hard together, striving to make an impact in the lives of our patients and families and in our wider communities, we pray. Amen.

God who calls,

All throughout your story with humanity you call people to grow by leading them out of their comfort zones. Help us today to trust that we, too, can learn how to grow and develop in the ways you have called us, by embracing the unknown and learning to entertain the uncomfortable. As a ministry united, may we become all the more willing to tolerate uncertainty, knowing that you will provide what we need to succeed, every step of the way. Amen.

Empowering God,

As we celebrate the legacy of U.S. Presidents today and envision the future of the office, we ask for the faith to believe we can transform divisions into unity, rivalries into healthy collaboration, and political distractions into focused attention on what matters most: building up the common good and serving the needs of all, especially those who are weak and vulnerable among us. Amen.

God of creation,

Your Word in Scripture reveals that you are just as committed to the whole of creation as you are to the humans you have made in your image. Help us to receive and respond to that message more than we do, that we might live more faithfully within the covenant you have made, not just with us, but with every living creature sharing this planet with us. May we be co-laborers with you, striving to fulfill your promise of shalom across the whole network of life you have established. With gratitude for your great gift of life more abundant, we pray. Amen.

We pray for your help in healing the divisions we face today. All across your family on earth, make us more willing to own up to the wrongs we have committed against each other, to express real sorrow for the hurts we have caused, and then to go further and seek restoration. Between us as persons, among us peoples, and as one family before you, help us advance a spirit of contrition that leads to genuine forgiveness, healing, and wholeness. Amen.
