Prayer

Ever-present help,

It can be hard for us to reach out and receive help. Especially for those of us who identify as caregivers, it’s a challenge to be vulnerable and welcome the help and care of others, even in a sincere time of need. Yet we know the truth. We who bring good help to others must also be willing to receive good help when we need it. Make us more willing to do so. May we continue to build a culture of care in which it’s safe to admit our weakness and to reach out for support. In the unity of the mission you gave us, Amen.

Soul healer,

As our journey through Lent continues, fill us with courage to look inward and examine the state of our hearts. Make us brave enough to acknowledge where we need healing. The wounds we have suffered. The wounds we have caused. Heal us together. For the protection, preservation, and affirmation of the dignity in which you created us, we pray. Amen.

God of all,

As we celebrate Women’s History Month, fill us with appreciation for the gifts and contributions of women the world over. May their courage and sacrifice inspire us all to give of ourselves in the construction of a world of justice, equality, and freedom. May the lives and example of women be a constant source of inspiration and strength. In confidence, we pray. Amen.

God who brings heaven to earth,

When you were among us you taught us to pray, “let your kingdom come, let your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” Give us renewed hope that this prayer might come true today. Through us. In all that we do and say, even those things that might seem routine or menial or that otherwise goes unnoticed, may we strive to collaborate with you for the sake of your mission on earth. May we become co-creators with you, eager to cultivate the earthly so as to thereby create the heavenly. Amen.

As a ministry striving to extend your compassionate ministry to others, we know we are called to uphold the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and ethical conduct in all our encounters. Help us continue to build a good reputation, by daily committing to put our values into action on behalf of those we serve. With boldness, creativity, and energy, may we be so dedicated to responding to the needs of our communities that the record of our actions will speak for itself. From a humble and sincere desire to serve, we pray. Amen.

Sustaining Spirit,

For those who are struggling to find wholeness in mind, body, or spirit today, we pray that you would restore them. For patients and families who are weakened by sickness and pain, sustain them with patience and peace. May we all be more willing to be instruments of your healing today, in word and in deed, so that the joy of your salvation will be manifest within and among us. So that our mouths will be freed to proclaim your goodness and mercy to a world in need. Amen.

God of our senses,

We live in a culture saturated with images. Artificial and synthetic images that shout for attention. As we search for peace above all the chaos, lead us to take more breaks from the screens and to go find peace with you again, in the self-portrait you have loving left us all throughout nature. Revive our senses to encounter your healing presence in everything and everywhere. Most especially in the faces of the those we have been called to serve, those who are poor, dying, and underserved. Amen.
