Reflection

“What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister has nothing to wear and has no food for the day, and one of you says to them, ‘Go in peace, keep warm, and eat well,’ but you do not give them the necessities of the body, what good is it? So also faith of itself, if it does not have works, is dead.” –James 2:14-17

Prayer

Faithful God,

We know all too well the temptation to say one thing and do another. Help us each day to practice what we preach, letting faith come alive in the good that we do for all those in need. On this side of heaven, we know we always need help, if your love is to bear fruit in our words and our deeds. Yes, we often will fail, and so we ask for your grace to cover our sins and empower us to go on. For the life of the world, we pray for the gift of more faith! Amen.

Call to Action

How do I show others the strength of my deepest convictions? Take time to consider the gap between what I say I believe and the things that I do. Make adjustments as needed.
