Palm Sunday
Palm Sunday
Reflection
“Many people spread their cloaks on the road, and others spread leafy branches that they had cut from the fields. Those preceding him and those following kept crying out, ‘Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Blessed is the kingdom of our father David that is to come! Hosanna in the highest!’” ~ Mark 11:8-10
Prayer
Holy God,
Today, we celebrate the feast of Palm Sunday, a feast that commemorates both the day Jesus triumphantly entered the city of Jerusalem and the beginning of the most sacred week of the church year. Your son Jesus entered the city to shouts of Hosanna. Yet, some of those same voices were shouting crucify him within a few days. Give us the strength and the courage to remain faithful to you, even in the midst of adversity and pain. Fill us with your Holy Spirit and bless our celebration of this holy week that our commemoration of these sacred events might draw us closer to you and renew our commitment to follow you each day. We make this prayer through Christ our Lord. Amen.
