Reflection

“Finish every day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; you shall begin it well and serenely, and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense. This day…is too dear, with its hopes and invitations, to waste a moment on the rotten yesterdays.”
–Ralph Waldo Emerson

Prayer

God of today,

Empower us to live each day in joy. May we cultivate gratitude for this present moment, wasting not a breath on the days we can’t change and looking ahead only in hope, for the new things you have promised to do through us. As those who are called to awareness and attention, to serve and to love those neighbors you send us today, here, and now, we pray. Amen.

Call to Action

As my day draws to a close, pause for a moment of mindfulness and release myself from the day. Be done with it, knowing I’ve done what I could.
