Feast of Saint Mary Magdalene
Feast of Saint Mary Magdalene
Reflection
“Jesus said to her, “Mary!” She turned and said to him in Hebrew, Rabbouni,” which means Teacher. Jesus said to her, “Stop holding on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am going to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’” ~ John 20:16-17
Prayer
God of justice and right,
Today, we celebrate the feast of Saint Mary Magdalene, the first witness of and to the risen Jesus, the apostle to the apostles. Through her example of love and devotion, move our hearts to similar love and devotion to you and to all your people, especially people who are poor and vulnerable. May our celebration of her feast day deepen within each of us a greater awareness of the presence of the risen Jesus in our midst and foster a greater devotion to embodying the kingdom he proclaimed. We make this prayer through Christ our risen Lord. Amen.
