Eid al Adha

Reflection

“A second time the angel of the LORD called to Abraham from heaven and said: ‘I swear by my very self—oracle of the LORD—that because you acted as you did in not withholding from me your son, your only one, I will bless you and make your descendants as countless as the stars of the sky and the sands of the seashore; your descendants will take possession of the gates of their enemies, and in your descendants all the nations of the earth will find blessing, because you obeyed my command.’” ~ Genesis 22:15-18

Prayer

God of goodness and love,

You established a covenant with Abraham, our father in faith, promising that all nations of the earth will find blessing in and through his descendants. Today, we join with our Muslim sisters and brothers as they celebrate Abraham’s faith and devotion to you. May this celebration strengthen the bond between people of different faith traditions and unite us in the mission to be a source of blessing for all the world. We pray in the name of the God who called Abraham to faith. Amen.

Call to Action

Take time today to reflect on how I might be a source of blessing for those in my life and to others who might cross my path in life.
